High-performance natural textile fibres.

Building India's largest vertically integrated hemp and natural fibres company, from cultivation in North India to developing high-performance cottonized hemp and natural fibres for use in garments and textiles.

Key thesis

Hemp is an extremely resource-efficient plant. It grows naturally in India, requiring minimal fertilisers and zero pesticides. It has one of the highest amounts of carbon sequestration per acre, relative to most other crops, improving soil quality and water retention. Separately, cotton is a resource intensive crop. To produce just 1kg of cotton fabric, the entire supply chain uses over 10,000 litres of water.

Chlorohemp is building India's largest vertically integrated hemp and natural fibers company, from cultivation to cottonized fibers. This is one of our most multi-faceted investments to date - delivering high levels of carbon sequestration, 2x to 10x higher net income for rural women farmers, and reducing cotton usage at scale.

Overview

ChloroHemp is building India's first vertically integrated, traceable supply chain for cottonised natural fibres — starting with hemp as its flagship fibre, alongside flax and nettle. Chlorohemp's core innovation is processing these bast fibres into textile-grade, cottonised outputs that can blend with cotton and other textiles to deliver high-performance yarns for garments, apparel and home textiles.

Hemp grows naturally in India, with minimal fertilizers and no pesticides needed, as it naturally repels animals and pests. Hemp has a very high carbon sequestration per acre, and can be multi-cropped. It is particularly beneficial for soil quality, and uses 1/7th the amount of water that is used for cotton. It is also a zero-waste crop, with every part of the plant having commercial applications across biochar, construction, nutrition and biomaterials — making the full crop usable.  India can be one of the world's leading hemp exporters, beneficial for its climate, textile industry, and economy.
