Sanjay Nayar

Sanjay is a General Partner at Peak, and provides strategic guidance, corporate connections and scale-up advice to Peak and its portfolio companies, lending his credibility, experience and network to the firm.   Sanjay is one of the most well-known and seasoned investors in the Indian private investing landscape, with over 41+ years of experience in financial markets. Sanjay founded and established KKR's India business, and led KKR India as CEO for 11 years (until December 2020), helping build the firm into one of the dominant private equity investors in Asia. While leading KKR, Sanjay deployed $14Bn across private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and credit. Over the past two decades, Sanjay has built a name as a seasoned investor in India's financial sector. 

Prior to joining KKR, Sanjay worked across senior leadership positions in Citibank / Citigroup for 25 years in India, UK and USA, from 1985 to 2009. He served as CEO of Citi's India and South Asia business, and was a member of Citigroup's Global Management Committee and Asia Executive Operating Committee.

Sanjay currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at NYKAA, and is the Founding Partner of Sorin Investments, an early-stage tech VC fund in India. Sanjay has been appointed as Chairman of the Advisory Board for CVC Capital, is a Board Member of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), and was the President of ASSOCHAM in 2025. He holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
